Sumario:ABSTRACT To develop this research, the low level of computational thinking skills in children in the fifth year of EGB of the Carlos María de la Condamine school was identified as a problem. Once the problem was identified and after a previous analysis, the researcher decided to apply Blockly Games to develop computational thinking. The theoretical foundations were established by analyzing variables from authors and research designs similar to the present study. On the other hand, the methodological design indicates that the research has a quantitative approach, with a theoretical deductive method and experimental design. It is also descriptive, field, and longitudinal. With this support, two data collection instruments were designed: the questionnaire to identify the level of computational thinking and a checklist. These instruments were validated by three experts who have used similar tools to conduct research. The instruments were applied to the selected group. Data were tabulated, graphed, analyzed, and interpreted, which allowed generating conclusions and recommendations of the research. Data provided a starting point for implementing this tool in more optimal situations to better monitor students. Key words: computational thinking, visual programming, block programming.
