Sumario:This study aimed to investigate the influence of cooperative learning strategies to improve the oral expression of the English language in high school students at “Nicolas Vaconez” Educative Unit. This study used qualitative and quantitative research. Moreover, a quasi-experimental design permitted the establishment of cause and effect between independent and dependent variables. Data by a pre-test and post-test application were collected, creating optimal learning experiences for the students. The results showed that the cooperative learning strategies to improve oral expression in high school students at “Nicolas Vasconez” Educative Unit were effective. Also, the students improved their communication and learned to work in groups exchanging ideas and opinions, which was essential to improve grammar and vocabulary fluently. The differences found during the pre-test and post-test were significant since the level of oral competence of the high school students and; their motivation towards learning the English language is satisfactory and relevant.
