| Sumario: | In this paper, Carlos Gaviria Díaz goes over the vicissitudes of the concept of democracy and enlightens the reality of democracy in Colombia nowadays, based on a historical and philosophical perspective. Finally, ethical values in the context of a democratic society, particularly the Colombian society, according to the 1991 Constitution, are questioned.
