Sumario:In this work, a numerical method is presented to calculate the water storage within an aquifer, which is developed by presenting an algorithm to find the numerical solution of the water balance equation, which describes the behavior of the water flow within a porous material. First, the water balance equation is deduced, then the deduction of the method is carried out to calculate the flow of groundwater in a heterogeneous and anisotropic aquifer in a transitory state, both for the 3-D and 2-D cases; It continues with the verification of certain properties that validate the method and ends by presenting some numerical examples.
