Sumario:English as a Foreign Language is still the preeminent model in English language teaching. However, the globalized world and reality faced by learners requires recognition, and assessment of new dynamics and models, as English as a Lingua Franca, that align better with the real use of English in the world and contexts in countries in Kachrus 1985 Expanding Circle, like Colombia. Even though, the Colombian Ministry of Education has developed different policies to promote English learning, these have shown little results and improvement in the language learning due to challenging and difficult learning and teaching conditions in public schools, as well as non-sensitive policies.
