Sumario:This study presents the structure and concept of private equity funds in Colombia, including their behavior and comparison concerning the number of funds and assets managed in Brazil, Mexico, and Chile during the period 2005 to 2018, emphasized on the infrastructure sector. Likewise, the study analyzes the economic, corporate governance, regulatory framework, taxes, promotion agencies and disclosure factors that have strengthened or limited economic growth of funds in Colombia. The methodology is qualitative and consist in a review of funds behavior in Colombia according to local regulations, funds studies for associations in the countries under analysis, interviews with officer, managers and institutional investors linked to fund management Once the investigation has been concluded, it is possible to indicate there are improvement elements for the strengthening of Colombia's funds management related to implement policies or a framework for a fund governance and best practices and control mechanisms from other countries in the Latin American region.
