Resumo:The Universidad Católica de Oriente University from its Extension and Social Projection Direction department, in conjunction with El Retiro City hall carried out the project "MI PRIMER MILLON"; The main objective of this project was to motivate and to instruct in financial education, the students of the tenth grade of the public education institutes of the municipality, amongst those are found Institución Educativa José Ignacio Botero Vallejo, Institucion Educativa Luis Eduardo Posada Restrepo and Institución Educativa Rural Dolores e Ismael Restrepo. As well a group of parents that for the first time were considered for the project, always seeking to reinforce and to develop knowledge in financial education that could work as a tool for decision-making in everyday life. All this was done by six students from the Universidad Católica De Oriente, currently in the last semesters of International Commerce; their names are: Yuliana Quintero, Juliana Escobar, Juliana Henao, Paula Alvarez, Sebastián Medina and Santiago Orozco. The course was developed through seven modules: 1. History of Money 2. Personal Finance 3. Culture of Financial Planning 4. Interest Rates and Indebtedness 5. Financial Institutions 6. Financial Products 7. Stock Exchange The modules and knowledge of the tutor students, acquired during the undergraduate degree in International Commerce, were built as the base to offer the priorly designed curriculum, through an active learning methodology, making the classes practical, dynamic and theoretical. The background of this learning methodology has shown positive results when applied to training with young people. The project concluded with a competition, where all the parties of the different educational institutions were evaluated for the knowledge which they obtained in the classes and the top three were awarded with a computer and different technological products; as a form of recognition of the effort made. It should be noted that at the beginning and end of the project, a diagnose and final test is performed. With the results of this test it was evident through the comparison between the tests at the beginning and end of the project.
