description During the last two decades, in the field of industrial heritage in Chile, develops a process of revaluation based on actions from its own community, who they recognize the value of heritage within the socio-cultural development of their territory. In In this sense, within the framework of the Lota valuation process, various public bodies and private converge in the safeguarding of the site through various actions that seek to position Lota as a site of world interest. The present investigation focuses on the period between the years 1997 - 2021, considering the Lota Reconversion Plan as the starting point, and the application as the end from the Lota Mining Complex to the UNESCO Tentative List as a World Heritage Site beginning of this year. This time range allows us to study the evidence of the laying process in value of the industrial heritage, expressed in a series of strategies by different actors. However, the actions to enhance the value of the industrial heritage that arise from the closure of the mines, are developed in principle in a descending hierarchical manner, that is, from a authority or competent entity downwards, and not horizontally in a way that allows the inclusion of the community in the safeguarding process. However, following the application to UNESCO of the Lota Mining Complex, a series of instances are established through which the local community begins to influence the comprehensive management of the elements. In this way, the strategy is oriented towards a more horizontal relationship between the different actors involved in the safeguard process. This research recognizes the importance of recording and reflecting on the perspectives provided by the different actors that make up the patrimonial reality of the Complex Minero de Lota, and how the different wills of these actors, both public and as private in the projection of Lota as a site of world interest.
