| Sumario: | The main objective of this thesis is to describe the metacognitive awareness in the different production threads of university students of the Law career. The basic proposal of the thesis is to determine how metacognitive awareness works in students' writing through the comparison between the declared knowledge about the students' writing process (through an interview) and the direct observation of this process. (through a specific writing task). Thus, the strategies that the students declare to use when writing a request were compared with the strategies that they actually use in the writing process. This comparison starts from the assumption that the more aware one is of a specific task, the more exact the person can be about how he or she performs this task. The results show that consciousness manifests itself at different levels of gradation and that it varies according to the type of strategy and thread. Thus, there is more awareness in the planning than in the revision of the texts. Similarly, it was possible to see that the representations of writing are highly influential in what students think they do versus what they actually do. This accounts for the need to reflect on how the production process is being taught at school and university, on the one hand, and that it will always be necessary to verify what the subjects declare about their writing, since in most cases , awareness is not as high, as has been assumed in several previous investigations. Finally, it was possible to see a relationship between the level of metacognitive awareness and the quality of the texts produced by the students, which is consistent with the theory. |
