description Esta tesis analiza las representaciones de infancia que realizan dos escritoras de la primera mitad del siglo XX en Chile: Gabriela Mistral y María Flora Yáñez. El centro de la investigación es revisar específicamente las construcciones de niñas y de los espacios ficcionales en que se las ubica en las rondas de Mistral —especialmente las publicadas en Ternura (1945)— y el libro autobiográfico Visiones de infancia (1947) de Yáñez. Para profundizar en esta tarea, se plantearon dos preguntas de investigación. La primera fue identificar las estrategias retóricas utilizadas por las autoras. Una vez determinado este punto, la pregunta que guio la interpretación fue cuál es el imaginario de infancia que Mistral y Yáñez construyen en sus obras. El análisis se inserta en el paradigma de la literatura comparada, por cuanto la base teórica traspasa los límites de la teoría literaria al incorporar las propuestas de lectura de los nuevos estudios de la infancia (childhood studies) para el análisis de las representaciones de las niñas, y de la geografía cultural para la revisión de los espacios configurados. Las conclusiones de la investigación destacan, por un lado, el carácter político y revolucionario de las rondas mistralianas, al punto de traspasar los límites del modelo establecido y dar cuenta de una estética de la ronda; y, por otro, se releva la propuesta del género de las estampas y el desarrollo de una estética de la fragilidad de la obra de Yáñez.

The center of the research is to review specifically the constructions of girls and the fictional spaces in which they are placed in the Mistral rounds -especially those published in Ternura (1945) - and the autobiographical book Visiones de infancia (1947) by Yáñez. To deepen this task, two research questions were raised. The first was to identify the rhetorical strategies used by the authors. Once this point was determined, the question that guided the interpretation was what is the childhood imaginary that Mistral and Yáñez construct in their works. The analysis is inserted in the paradigm of comparative literature, since the theoretical basis goes beyond the limits of literary theory when incorporating the reading proposals of the new childhood studies for the analysis of the representations of girls, and cultural geography for the review of configured spaces.
