Descripción
Sumario:On June 1, 1890, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Camilo Castelo Branco (1825- 1890) died at his home in the now-defunct parish of São Miguel de Seide, causing great shock in the community of writers and intellectuals of the time. Many people paid tribute to him on the occasion of his death. A year later, the magazine Nova Alvorada (1891-1903) published an exclusive issue in tribute to the writer. The issue was written by Viscountess Correia Botelho (Ana Plácido), Oliveira Martins, Ramalho Ortigão, Manuel Pinheiro Chagas, F. Gomes de Amorim, Alberto Pimentel, Teóphilo Braga, Guiomar Torresão, among others, who spared no adjectives for the noble novelist, called a master, singular for his rare ingenuity and talent. This essay is based on the praises published in recognition and deference to Camilo’s consecration.
