| Sumario: | The objective of this essay is to analyze how Camilo Castelo Branco has been represented in literary historiography, from the 19th century, with Teófilo Braga, through Fidelino de Figueiredo, António José Saraiva and Óscar Lopes and Massaud Moisés in the 20th century, until the present day. We seek to show by the study of the history of Portuguese literary histories that there have been few changes in the approach to Camilo, which has contributed to the formation of a crystallized image of the writer, which has had deleterious effects on the reading and teaching of his work, in Portugal and in Brazil. |
