Sumario:In this study, I’ve been detained to the issue of localism in hinterland Portuguese newspapers that circulate in small towns in Portugal and in Rio Grande do Sul, in cities with fewer than 200 thousand inhabitants. From a content analysis of 14 newspapers between the two countries. What we can see so far is the increasing use of Internet by the general population. This situation has favored localism, because increased demand for quality local information. Thus, it is determining the role that geography plays in defining local information even in the digital age.
