| Sumario: | The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of local journalism because it has been through it that people are being informed about the risks, care and evolution of the disease in their neighborhood, which concerns them and affects their lives more directly. This article presents the results of an exploratory research that aimed to collect impressions and experiences among professionals from the local press about their work in this health crisis. The research was carried out in the second half of 2021 through an e-survey applied among members of reporting teams from different media in Campos dos Goytacazes, an urban center with 514,643 inhabitants, located 300 km from the state capital, Rio de Janeiro. The study made it possible to identify issues related to the respondents' working conditions, power relations and conflict involving commercial, administrative and newsrooms, newsworthiness criteria and the social role of local journalism for its audience. |
