Descripción
Sumario:What follows is a new translation of Viktor Shklovsky’s seminal essay Iskusstvo kak priem (“Art as Device”). In the spirit of the text, this version aims to recapture, in Portuguese translation, something of the strangeness of the 1917 original. In order to do so – and as alternative to the previous “singularização” (“singularization”) – we propose that ostranenie be rendered “estranhalização”, a word that, like ostranenie is non-existent but plausible in the language, preserves the rich word-formation possibilities of the Russian original, and retains the root stran or “strange”.
