When considering the dissemination of neoliberal ideas and the actions resulting from them, attention should be paid to the transformations concerning the attributions of the State. In this way, this article aims to examine the role of the State in the current context of globalization and its contribution to accumulation through dispossession, in Brazil and in the state of Paraná, especially between 2003 and 2018. For this, the present study identified some actions of the federal and Parana’s (state) governments in this period. The methodological procedures adopted in the research consist of bibliographical and documental reviews, in addition to the use of statistic data. The results show that the state has continually contributed to accumulation by dispossession, especially when governed from neoliberal perspectives. Therefore, the idea of the minimal state has no place in the analyzed governments.A discussão acerca do papel do Estado tem sido habitual em tempos de avanço do processo de globalização. Ao considerar a disseminação das ideias neoliberais e as ações decorrentes destas, cabe atenção sobre as transformações acerca das atribuições do Estado. Dessa maneira, este artigo objetiva examinar o papel do Estado no atual contexto da globalização e a respectiva contribuição com a acumulação por espoliação, no Brasil e no estado do Paraná, especialmente entre os anos de 2003 e 2018. Para isso, o presente estudo identificou algumas ações dos governos federal e paranaense nesse período. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados foram a revisão bibliográfica e documental, com uso de dados estatísticos. Os resultados evidenciaram que o Estado tem contribuído continuamente com a acumulação por espoliação, especialmente quando governado sob perspectivas neoliberais.
