Sumario:The discussion about the role of the State has been usual in times of advancement of the globalization process. When considering the dissemination of neoliberal ideas and the actions resulting from them, attention should be paid to the transformations concerning the attributions of the State. In this way, this article aims to examine the role of the State in the current context of globalization and its contribution to accumulation through dispossession, in Brazil and in the state of Paraná, especially between 2003 and 2018. For this, the present study identified some actions of the federal and Parana’s (state) governments in this period. The methodological procedures adopted in the research consist of bibliographical and documental reviews, in addition to the use of statistic data. The results show that the state has continually contributed to accumulation by dispossession, especially when governed from neoliberal perspectives. Therefore, the idea of the minimal state has no place in the analyzed governments.
