| Sumario: | This article analyzes the participation policy guidelines for the online community of readers of one of the largest newspapers in the world (Molina, 2008), The New York Times (NYT). The focus of the research is to understand how participation policies define strategies to maintain the loyalty of active audiences, in a scenario of crisis of trust in journalistic institutions. We opted for the theoretical-methodological approach of Thompson's depth hermeneutics (2011), which is divided into three phases: analysis of the socio-historical context of the object; content analysis; and interpretation. The analysis highlight the NYT's trajectory in encouraging reader engagement and loyalty. |
