| Sumario: | This article aims to analyze how the editorial policy’s moderation strategies of one of the largest newspapers in the world, The Guardian, paved the way for the consolidation of the online community of readers on the digital platform. It proposes to demonstrate how facing the problem of interaction (through comments) led The Guardian to build a strengthened community that is willing to take stances. The analysis presented here showcases some of the findings from a survey on reader participation in long form journalism. Through this case study, we revisit theorists to confront them with moderation practices and data from document-based research. It is assumed that the establishment of an online community of readers is anchored in the understanding and appreciation of the readership, as well as in encouraging loyalty to the journalistic project through effective interaction strategies and supported by the moderation of discussions. |
