The effect of aerobic exercise on blood pressure behavior in hypertensive individuals
Objective: This study aimed to verify the bloodpressure before exercise, during and after asingle session of aerobic exercise. Materialsand methods: 10 male subjects between 45and 65, hypertensive sedentary and who madeuse of drug treatment based in inhibitor ofangiotensin-converting enzyme, held a...

| Sumario: | Objective: This study aimed to verify the bloodpressure before exercise, during and after asingle session of aerobic exercise. Materialsand methods: 10 male subjects between 45and 65, hypertensive sedentary and who madeuse of drug treatment based in inhibitor ofangiotensin-converting enzyme, held a walk of30 minutes up to 70% of heart rate reserve.Blood pressure was measured when theindividual was at rest for a period of 15 minutesand during exertion in time of 15 minutes andimmediately after completing the 30 minutes. In the recovery period was measured every 5minutes to complete 30 minutes. Results: Asingle session of aerobic exercise led toreduction in systolic blood pressure from 139.2to 120mmHg after 30 minutes of recovery, thediastolic blood pressure decreased from 86.3to 80.4 mmHg. The values of mean arterialpressure decreased from 103.9 to 94.3 mmHg.Discussion: Considering the intensity andduration of the exercise, this single session ofexercise, reduced the blood pressure ofhypertensive individuals, making the levels ofboth, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, measured post exercise remained below thelevels discussed in the pre-exercise. It isconcluded that a single session of aerobicexercise was able to cause acute hypotensiveeffect after physical exercise in hypertensiveindividuals. |
