| Sumario: | This article aims at analyzing the representations produced about women, through the gender category in O Lampião da Esquina newspaper, which circulated in Brazil, from 1978 to 1981. Considered the first national publication focused on gay public, it wanted “the exit of ghetto from discriminated groups”, and in edition number 0, it also proposed women’s participation. Gradually, women’s participation became more clear. One of the questions of this research is to understand the attempt of building a space of visibility for women together with this new way of talking about them. Therefore, one should uncover the interests of O Lampião da Esquina by understanding that every newspaper obtains its own brand, expressing its political, economic, cultural and social positions. |
