description This article brings the results of a research developed in the field of Sociology of Education, which had as main objective to investigate the school trajectories of students from low-income backgrounds enrolled in graduate programs at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP). The research was carried out through a qualitative approach and the application of semi-structured interviews with five low-income students. Based on the data obtained and supported by the theory, it can be concluded that, in general, the involvement of families with the schooling of the investigated students was heterogeneous and without an intentional school project;  The schooling trajectories of the five students from low-income backgrounds, permeated by family and individual mobilizations, showed that the students experienced the condition of good students in basic education and at university, liked school and had good school results; and built several short-term schooling strategies that, associated, enabled a long schooling path and the access to higher levels of schooling, entering the academic master's degree. Furthermore, it is important to mention the relevance of recent public policies for the democratization of the university, specifically the Affirmative Actions that allowed these students to experience university life, to remain in Higher Education, first in undergraduate studies, and later in graduate studies stricto sensu.

La investigación se llevó a cabo mediante un enfoque cualitativo y la aplicación de entrevistas semiestructuradas a cinco estudiantes de clases sociales populares. A partir de los datos obtenidos y apoyados en la teoría, se puede concluir que, en general, la implicación de las familias con la escolarización de los alumnos investigados fue heterogénea y sin un proyecto escolar intencionado;  Las trayectorias escolares de los cinco estudiantes de bajos ingresos, permeadas por movilizaciones familiares e individuales, mostraron que los alumnos experimentaron la condición de buenos estudiantes en la educación básica y en la universidad, les gustó la escuela y tuvieron buenos resultados escolares; y construyeron variadas estrategias de escolarización de corta duración que, asociadas, permitieron una ruta de longevidad escolar y el acceso a los niveles más altos de escolarización, ingresando a la maestría académica. Además, es importante mencionar la relevancia de las recientes políticas públicas de democratización de la universidad, específicamente las Acciones Afirmativas que permitieron a estos estudiantes experimentar la vida universitaria, permanecer en la Educación Superior, primero en los estudios de pregrado y luego en el postgrado stricto sensu.Este artigo traz resultados de uma pesquisa desenvolvida no campo da Sociologia da Educação e que teve como objetivo principal investigar as trajetórias escolares de estudantes oriundos de camadas populares matriculados em programas de Pós-graduação stricto sensu da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto (UFOP). A pesquisa realizou-se por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa e da aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas com cinco estudantes de camadas populares. Pode-se concluir com base nos dados obtidos e respaldando-se na teoria, que de um modo geral, o envolvimento das famílias com a escolarização dos estudantes investigados se deu de modo heterogêneo e sem um projeto escolar intencional; as trajetórias escolares dos cinco estudantes de camadas populares, perpassadas por mobilizações familiares e individuais, evidenciaram que os estudantes vivenciaram a condição de bons alunos na educação básica e na universidade,  gostavam da escola e tinham bons resultados escolares; e construíram variadas estratégias de escolarização de curto prazo que, associadas, possibilitaram um percurso de longevidade escolar e o acesso aos níveis mais altos da escolarização, ingressando no mestrado acadêmico.
