Resumo:This article focuses on Alba Cañizares do Nascimento's trip to Uruguay and Argentina, while he held the position of Superintendent of Elementary Education of the Department of Education of the Federal District, under the management of Anísio Teixeira, in January 1935. Representing interests national goals of modernize the country through education, the educator seeks to strengthen ties, circulate new pedagogical models and foment a discourse of peace that was widespread in the first decades of the 20th century. His performance during the trip had repercussions in the press, and it is possible to find records in periodicals, such as Correio da Manhã, (Morning mail) A Noite (The night) Diário de Notícias (News diary) and the magazine A Escola Primaria that help to understand the motivations for the trip, its financing, the other travelers and Anísio Teixeira's interests in sending a commission to these countries, in addition to revealing encounters with public figures and spaces visited. Crossed with the other records about its trajectory, the articles published in the press also make it possible to interpret the articulation effort of the Department of Education of the Federal District with these countries and how it was legitimized in the educational field.
