Sumario:The issue of representation is central to Carl Schmitt. In more than one writing, this issue is analyzed in detail. In addition, it is a recurring topic in interpreters of Schmitt's work. Our purpose in this article is to return to the elaboration of Schmitt's notion of representation. We will see how he presents such a notion, mainly in his Theory of the Constitution. From the exposition of Schmitt's analysis, we will criticize the way he elaborates this idea, presenting a different way of looking at the question: there would not be a separation between representation and identity, as Schmitt wants, but representation would itself be identity. From this critique, we can see the limits of Schmitt's vision, in addition to highlighting the reasons that led him to such a notion of representation.
