Sumario:When looking at the cultural and religious spaces of the interior region of the state of Paraíba, especially the sertão of Paraíba, beyond its landscape we glimpse the cultural practices and religious experiences of a country people through healing prayers, seeking to live with the modernity of their time and with these beliefs that come from their colonial past. In this sense, the present article has the objective of historically discuss the forms of sociability of country men and women based on their religious identity and the performances of the practices of prayers in the sertão of Sabugi in Paraiba, thinking about the permanence of their sociability rites and the construction of their social imaginary that comprises the religious and cultural identity of these historical subjects through the practices of prayers. For this study, we turn to oral documentation as a historical source along with the theoretical dialogue of historians such as Azzi (1990) and Canclini (2019).
