| Sumario: | Social programs have been part of the challenges faced by educators today. This article aims to investigate the main challenges faced by students from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rondônia Campus Cacoal in accessing the Student Assistance Program of that institution. This is a case study, carried out with the support of bibliographic-documentary research, started in 2021. Data were obtained through research on the institution’s website and in bibliographic works. The analysis is based on Freire (2003), Freire and Macedo (2011), Santos and Nascimento (2011), Silveira (2019) and Farias (2021), among others. The development of the educational product is still in process, so this article presents only theoretical reflections and documental analyses. The results indicated that the difficulty of textual interpretation is at the base of the challenges of access to the IFRO Student Assistance Program, and accounts for most of the rejections of registrations; on the other hand, the public notice genre, by postulating neutrality and impersonality, uses a language that is often different from the usual one, presenting terms that are difficult to understand for high school readers. |
