| Sumario: | In order to analyze the territory and territoriality of motorcycle taxi drivers and their participation in urban mobility in the city of Senhor do Bonfim, Bahia, this study discusses some fundamental concepts of Geography as a means to understand the dynamics of this profession. Primary data were collected through fieldwork, which involved obtaining testimonials from 38 motorcycle taxi drivers, 4 motorcycle taxi company owners, and the traffic authority officer at the Municipal Traffic Directorate (DMTRANS). Data were gathered using a semi-structured interview technique with open and closed-ended questions, as well as observational methods and informal conversations. This research is qualitative in scope, characterized as an exploratory study in terms of its approach and a field study in terms of its subject matter. Inferential and descriptive analyses were employed to consolidate the results. It was observed that the motorcycle taxi driver’s activity is directly related to the socio-economic conditions of those involved. Their motivation to engage in this profession stems from the need to contribute to the family income, and these factors serve as driving forces for these professionals to undertake this activity and assume the associated risks and losses. |
