We have particularly worked on problems of the representation of the city, including various aspects, from human to physical landscape. Towards the composition of that large panorama we had to synthesize current formulations, trying to review the author's research, mentioned in footnotes whenever is possible. Taking São Paulo filmed by historical periods on little synchronical panoramas, in diachronical considerations or purposes, we try to figure out transformations, permanency, ruptures and traditions.  São Paulo tem sido filmada há mais de um século, e o presente texto procura sintetizar uma série de preocupações presentes na história das relações entre a cidade e o cinema. Em particular estão aqui tratados os problemas de representação da cidade no cinema, sob vários aspectos, que vão da paisagem física à humana. Para compor este amplo panorama é forçoso o recurso às formulações sintéticas aqui esboçadas, tentando-se contemplar pesquisas retomadas do autor, sempre que possível referida em nota.
