Descripción
Sumario:The present study aimed to understand how School Physical Education has contributed to the formation of the concept of beauty enunciated by high school students, considering the influence of the media in this process. The study is of a bibliographic nature, based on the selection of scientific articles published from 2014 to 2020 that deal with the theme that were organized, systematized and subjected to an interpretative analysis. Nine scientific articles were selected, mined in the Scielo databases, CAPES Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, Google Scholar and in electronic journals in the area of Physical Education. It was observed that, in addition to the educational actions developed at school, other mediations build the concept of beauty in the universe of meanings of young high school students. One of the most potent is the media. Adolescents and young schoolchildren are always looking for the construction of their identity, the acceptance of their body and projection in other bodies, being significantly influenced by what is propagated in the media, which makes them go in search of an idealized beauty standard and that , sometimes, they use unhealthy means for this. Thus, Physical Education must always relate this theme to its contents, encouraging self-knowledge, promoting learning that stimulates self-esteem and criticality in students in relation to the standards of body beauty idealized by the media and unattainable by most of these young people.
