In this work, I focus on what is generally y called Esoteric Umbanda, indicating s spectrum of possibilities in the arrangement between the New Age and Umbanda resulting from the perception of the religious agents who treats the elements of the two universes as different but not as opposites. My observations result from my fieldwork in two Umbanda centers in the metropolitan area of Florianopolis, highlight the plurality of possible practices created by the dialogue between New Age and Umbanda.O caráter plural e aberto da Nova Era tem sido destacado por uma série de pesquisadores dedicados a este campo de investigação, porém ainda é incipiente a discussão acerca dos diálogos da Nova Era com a Umbanda no Brasil. Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo2016-08-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.pucsp.br/index.php/rever/article/view/29387REVER: Journal for the Study of Religion; Vol. 16 No. 2 (2016): Nova Era: aportes teóricos e situacionais; 92-107REVER: Revista de Estudos da Religião; v. 16 n. 2 (2016): Nova Era: aportes teóricos e situacionais; 92-1071677-1222reponame:Rever (São Paulo.
