Sumario:This article aims at finding subsidies in the history of commercial law to reflect on the contradictory role of WTO in building institutional bases of a global economy by identifying the general problem of conciliating the demand for global economic rules and the reality of a political system centered in States as the core of tensions that have been flourishing amid ongoing commercial dealings.
