The GII showed a trend for higher number of extra sessions of dialysis and longer HD versus GI. The level of calcium tended to be different in GII vs GI. There was a trend for higher initial level of phosphorus GII vs GIII. Sevelamer has great therapeutic value and is of paramount importance to CKD V patients on dialysis hypercalcemic. There is evidence that in the long term, the use of sevelamer bring benefits in reducing the morbidity associated with haemodialysis.Neste estudo, objetiva-se avaliar a efetividade do sevelamer e do carbonato de cálcio como quelantes de fósforo. Foram selecionados 31 pacientes (55±14 anos) submetidos à hemodiálise (HD) 3 vezes/semana 4 h/sessão, dos quais foram levantados resultados de exames em tempo zero e tempo final, divididos em três grupos: GI, em uso de carbonato de cálcio; GII, em uso do sevelamer; GIII, sem uso de quelantes. O GII apresentou tendência a maior número de sessões extras de HD e maior tempo em HD vs GI. O nível de cálcio tendeu a ser diferente no GII vs GI. Houve tendência a maior nível de fósforo inicial no GII vs GIII. Concluiu-se que o sevelamer apresenta grande valor terapêutico e é de suma importância para pacientes com DRC V em tratamento dialítico hipercalcêmicos.
