Descripción
Sumario: This article aims to discuss the resumption process of port areas of contemporary Brazilian cities through the most recent urban requalification projects and to identify reasons why these projects are implemented or shelved. Studies of the proposals were developed for the harbour areas of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Porto Maravilha, and Vitória (ES), Portal Sul, in order to analyze the current perspectives and the panoramas of implementation of urban interventions. The criterion of analysis is the comparison and identification of points in common and divergent and the methodology consists in the study of reference cases electing real examples to constitute references in the concrete construction of the object of knowledge. The comparative method allows to establish and test the communication between the interlocutors and, for that, were considered beyond the urban and propositional context, the administrative structures, the actors involved and the normative frameworks. The investigation is justified not only by the originality of the dialogue established between the cases but also by the importance of discussing the ballast on which large urban projects are or are not undertaken in the center of Brazilian metropolitan regions.
