Descrição
Resumo:The purpose of this research is to investigate the educational practices of the sex workers of Fortaleza Center from the knowledge and experiences of the use of beauty in the construction of their body. The beautiful is an element of power, and the devices to achieve beauty are multiple, such as aesthetic care, including plastic surgeries and hair paintings, that is, the body changing according to each culture or time. In the methodological course, the oral source is used as an indispensable element in the construction of memory, being approached from the narratives of the sex workers. This is a qualitative research using a field diary, cameras, recorders, semi-structured interviews and informal conversations. The intention is to give voice to the so-called “minority groups” through observations and interviews with 17 sex workers within the brothels located in the Center of Fortaleza. From this study, we can see some of the rituals and methods that sex workers use to achieve a beautiful body. There are several arguments that appropriate sex workers in the search for attractive body, such as: anabolic use, surgical interventions and practice of diets often out of the ordinary to achieve weight loss or gain muscle mass, as well as care of hygiene and preservation.
