In today’s materialistic society, the spiritual dimension has been excluded from the school’s environment, or at best set aside; the article Aims at demonstrating the benefits and possibilities of returning it back to formal education, teking into consideration works of various authors such as Jean Piaget, Carl Jung, Ubiratan D’Ambrosio, among others.A educação integral com tempo estendido para sete horas diárias e um enfoque multidimensional do ser humano, se coloca como a concepção defendida pela legislação educacional brasileira e por pensadores contemporâneos do processo educacional, tais como Anísio Teixeira e Paulo Freire. O educando deve ser encarado enquanto ser complexo, formado por dimensões física, emocional, mental, social, cultural, e espiritual, sendo necessário que a educação foque no seu desenvolvimento integral.
