| Sumario: | Introduction: Strength training is one most practiced modality by people and athletes in Brazil and around the world. The workouts combined with the practice and habits of bodybuilders, for example the intake of supplements is becoming more frequent in the gyms. With a lot of variety of supplements already known, creatine is one of the most scientifically proven, providing strength, power, increasing fat-free mass and helping with the neurological function. Objective: Investigate the intake of creatine supplementation in bodybuilders and analyze the knowledge of the people about the supplement and ways of using it. Materials and Methods: The sample is consisted about a total of 77 bodybuilders from a gym in the extreme south of Santa Catarina. To obtain the data, was applied an online questionnaire, to evaluate the knowledge about creatine supplementation. Results: Most of the sample was predominantly female and aged between 24 and 29 years. Only 58.4% reported that the main source of information regarding supplementation is through the professional of nutrition. Among the 77 people of the sample, 68.8% never did creatine loading and 33.8% did not use creatine daily, which it’s not the right way of using it. About the the reasons of the intake of creatine, 72.7% reported that used it to increase performance and/or strength, collaborating with this result, 92.2% reported positive effects after using creatine and among the positive effects mentioned in the questionnaire, stands out the strength, that was the most cited (56.5%). Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of the nutritionist to determine the individual’s intake needs and the effectiveness of the supplements in bodybuilders. |
