Sumario:This article aims to understand how the historical approach is mobilized in Magda Soares' academic production. Predominantly based on a corpus of four publications, it seeks to identify the research questions, historiographical tendencies, epistemological perspective, sources and treatment, justifications for the construction of this view, and the results of her studies. Our findings indicate that history is mobilized in three dimensions: remembrance, argument support to discuss contemporary issues, and historiographical work. The contributions of these studies are mainly in the fields of the history of schooling, school subjects and textbooks, and the history of literacy. Her epistemological position was coherent with her research, scientific dissemination, and educational action work, as she established relations between the studied phenomena and broader social, cultural, and political practices.
