By employing Florestan Fernandes as an argumentative index, I propose two feminist openings in the production of sociological knowledge: the sociobiographical opening of the Marias problematizes the establishment of authority and intellectual legitimacy within the Brazilian Social Sciences, which is shaped by androcentric and racist power dynamics within the academic space; the epistemological opening highlights some propositions put forth by the Marias that challenge the canon. In a common vein, these propositions destabilize the dualistic approach to national formation based on dichotomous oppositions between tradition/retardation and modernity, leading to other perspectives on social transformation.À luz da crítica feminista à ciência, o artigo se volta à uma reflexão sobre as interpretações do Brasil, apreendida como o campo de construção do pensamento sócio-histórico brasileiro, a partir dos legados das Marias Isaura Pereira de Queiroz, Sylvia de Carvalho Franco e Beatriz Nascimento. Ao utilizar-me de Florestan Fernandes como índice argumentativo, proponho duas aberturas feministas na produção do conhecimento sociológico: a abertura sociobiográfica das Marias problematiza a constituição da autoridade e legitimidade intelectual por relações de poder androcêntricas e racistas que configuram o espaço acadêmico das ciências sociais brasileira; a abertura epistemológica expõe algumas proposições das Marias de encontro ao cânone.
