Acute vascular responses in different body positions in resistence training

The aim of this study was to compare the responses of heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP) and double rate product (DP) in different body positions inresistance training (RT) to the lower limbs. The study included eight volunteers (five men), normotensive and with previous experience in RT...

Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this study was to compare the responses of heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP) and double rate product (DP) in different body positions inresistance training (RT) to the lower limbs. The study included eight volunteers (five men), normotensive and with previous experience in RT, 23±1 (years), 63.8±10.6 (kg), 169.7±9.5 (cm). The exercises chosen were the squat bar guided (SQ) and leg press 45º (LP). The volunteers performed four visits to the study site with a minimum interval of 48 hours. Initially, we used the test-retest of 10 repetitions maximum (10RM) in both exercises. In the following days, the participants performed at random, three sets of 10RM maximum load with an interval of two minutes between sets. The HR and BP were measured at rest and immediately after each series by a frequencimeter (FS2, Polar Electro OY®, Finland) and an aneroid sphygmomanometer and stethoscope adult model (Kole ®, Brazil), respectively. We conducted a normality test and then used the two-way ANOVA with repeated measures followed by Tukey Post-Hoc test to compare the responses between the variables. The HR in MA was significantly higher in the 1st and 3rd grade, while the SBP was higher in the LP, only in 1st grade. The DP was higher in MA only in 3rd grade. It follows that the MA caused greater acute cardiovascular responses in comparison to the LP
