| Sumario: | The University of Brasília (UnB) possesses a rare medieval manuscript in the Rare Books Section of its Central Library (BCE). This document, known as Flos Sanctorum, talks about the lives of saints in a Christian tradition. This article presents some possibilities of analysis of this manuscript that are the result of my teaching experience towards to a better understanding of the Middle Ages. Through the exemplar lives of Christians, specially feminine characters ”“ as Benedita and Pelagia - it’s possible to examine some important aspects related to the representation of the Christian model. With respect to Benedita I will analyze two central narrative elements: the cell as a physical space of feminine protection and the matrimonial commitment. In relation to Pelagia I will present also two examples: the woman that has wealth and freedom and her purification process. |
