| Sumario: | Ultraconservative candidate Jair Bolsonaro was victorious for the highest position in the Brazilian government during the most recent electoral process, breaking the relatively long period of dispute between the most important political parties of the post-dictatorship period (1964-1985) under a scenario where the most conservative forces of Brazilian society have gained influence. This paper searches recent Brazilian history for clues to identify the rise of the most conservative forces of society to rule the State. For such, we combine an analysis of the current scenario that goes beyond empirical data for dynamically portraying reality to a comprehensive historical analysis of the structure of Brazilian society, based on some of its important interpreters. |
