| Sumario: | This article aims to present an overview of the performance of the Jair Bolsonaro government, between the years 2019 and 2022, in public cultural policies in the country. Based on numbers, official records and in the press, it seeks to think about the impact that this period brings to the notions of culture, politics and citizen participation, dialoguing with the theoretical support of authors such as Nestor Garcia Canclini, Albino Rubim, José Carlos Durand, Marilena Chaui, Lilia Schwarcz, Boaventura de Sousantos, Hannah Arendt, Renato Ortiz and George Yude, among others. Based on an observation of manifestations of resistance, especially by native peoples, it concludes by bringing proposals to think about the role of communication and media literacy for cultural policies in Brazil. |
