Resumo:This article shows the fragility of the sensationalism concept in the study of the popular segment from the great press and the evidence of its low density explanatoriness to designate particularities from several orders that reunited in just one concept take us away from the particularity of the object. The sensationalism usually is connected to an economical view, an elite notion of the culture and a univocal approach of journalism. We point out the complexity of the speeches approached under the sensationalism label, which are imbricated in the capital circuit as well as in the production and symbolical circulation.
