Amartya Sen.The object of study of this essay is to relate education to democracy from the theory of John Rawls. Democracy, nowadays, has gained broader definitions including the security of having its fundamental rights assured, such as the social right to education. The general goal of this research is to connect John Rawls’s theory and education to democracy. While the specific objectives were: 1) Define where democracy fits; 2) To emphasize the principles of justice of John Rawls; 3) To base public reason as a propeller of democracy and education. The research problem which guided the research was: Is public reason a basis of education for democracy? It can be inferred that public reason anchored with education is a basic means for democracy, because allied, these institutions empower the subject and give him a political voice sustaining the democratic system of a society. The approach method was the deductive one, being the larger premise the theory of John Rawls and the lesser premise the feasibility of applying public reason in education for democracy. The research technique was the bibliographical one.
