Descrição
Resumo:The co-infection of Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) with the acquired immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is critical, due to the concomitant suppression of the immune system and increased mortality, which may be the result of overlapping regions where these organisms are present. This report is about a patient who, despite Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome and multiple associated pathologies, socioeconomic vulnerabilities, nutritional deficit, frank VL symptoms and substantial laboratory changes, was successful in treating visceral Leishmaniasis, through treatment with Amphotericin B deoxycholate, Liposomal Amphotericin B, Dolutegravir, Darunavir and Ritonavir, in addition to prophylaxis with Azithromycin and Clindamycin.
