Description
Summary:This article focuses on some models of tragic profile verified in Brazilian songs. The analyses are made considering the semiotic complex proper to the song, so that the verbal language is stylistically examined in cooperation with the musical dimensions of the work. With the support of José Miguel Wisnik, Affonso Romano de Sant’Anna, Antonio Cicero and Luiz Tatit, this article identifies, in lyrical works such as “Sabiá”, by Chico Buarque de Holanda and Antonio Carlos Jobim, some tensions experienced by lyrical subjectivities that embody the collective pain of oppression, resulting from a dictatorial regime in Brazilian politics in the 1960s.
