Descrição
Resumo:This essay deals with Afro-Brazilian religions in their transplantation process related particularly to Portugal where the phenomenon is found in dose relationship with Portuguese remale migration. The text initially makes an assessment of the systematization process of the Umbanda in Brazil and its installation in Portugal, analyzing the role of Portuguese women in the effort to divulge it in the country. In a third approach, the text explores ethographic descriptions aiming at demonstrating the manifestation of overlapping rituals and performance of Umbanda and Portuguese Catholicism in order to show the bricolage process found in the creation of an imaginary religious world. After some time those religious Afro-Brazilian-Portuguese manifestations will shape themselves as part of a social environment - a diaspora religion in the process of establishing itself as a recognized institution while - inventing its own tradicion, and leading the Portuguese to the trance.
