| Sumario: | In this article, I analyze the similarities between Santo Daime and environmentalism, understanding such affinity as an important part of the process of transnationalization of this religion. From the identification of an important structural characteristic of this religion, the ecologicity, it was possible to observe how the Santo Daime has accommodated itself in flows of global religions, in some cases, such as Portugal, triggering elements of the environmentalist movement as a form of legitimacy for its presence in a new context. The data that will be discussed here are part of my researches about the transnationalization of Santo Daime since graduation until my phd still in progrees, in which I have been using the techniques of participant observation in groups inside Brazil and in Portugal besides semi-structured and in-depth interviews with daimistas who practice their religion outside its context of origin. |
