| Sumario: | In this article, I will discuss “women”, “religion” and “nationality” as intersectional axes of great relevance to the study of the Santo Daime diaspora in Portugal. The reflections start from the analysis of how these elements act in the configuration of this field that, despite being mostly composed by Portuguese men and women, has as its most relevant figures, female middle-class Brazilian daimistas. Data were collected during my course completion and master’s research through participant observation and semi-structured and in-depth interviews that took place between the years 2017 to 2021. From these researches, it was possible to identify that “women”, “religion” and “nationality” effectively impact in the negotiations regarding the Santo Daime diaspora in Portugal and weave the contours of this religion in the country. |
