Sumario:It is well known that the prison issue in Brazil involves a series of problems of a social, political and economic nature, which are far from being solved. Thus, the objectives of custodial sentences, resocialization, prevention (for the practice of new crimes) and retribution (for the harm caused) are difficult to achieve. Work within prisons is one of the rights of prisoners provided for in the Penal Execution Law and one of the most efficient ways of fulfilling the objectives of the custodial sentence. The exercise of work activities contributes to the reduction of the penalty, to the development of skills, among other benefits to be seen in the development of this article. Thus, the union of Criminal Law with Fashion Law emerges as a way to alleviate the crisis in the prison system and guarantee the right of prisoners to work. Through partnerships between private companies, social projects, discussed below, and common prison establishments or APACs, it is possible to employ inmates, guarantee the continuity of manufacturing of products in the fashion market and provide cost savings for the companies involved. The use of prison labor, therefore, shows itself to be associated with the resocialization of prisoners and the development of the fashion industry, being beneficial to prisoners, the market, the government and society in general.
